Dimapur, 12 November (MTNews): The 2-day All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) Dimapur Sports Meet cum Basketball & Volleyball Tournament concluded with a befitting closing ceremony held at Don Bosco Hr Sec School Sports Complex, Dimapur, on 11 November 2023. The sports meet kicked off on the 10th of November 2023, with Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, gracing the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest.

 

The two-day event saw participating schools competing in various events, including Volleyball, Basketball, March Past, 100 Metres Race, 200 Metres Race, 4×100 Metres Relay Race, and Tug-of-War. The overall champion trophy of the sports meet was secured by Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur, with a total medal tally point of 195, while Livingstone Foundation International, Dimapur, with a total medal tally point of 165, was declared the 1st Runner-Up team. Lorna’s Hr. Sec. School won the 2nd Runner-Up position with a total medal tally point of 90.

In the March Past, Livingstone Foundation International secured the 1st position, while Lorna’s Hr Sec School and St Mary’s Hr Sec School, Padumpukhri, came in the 2nd and 3rd places, respectively. The Best Discipline Award went to Harvest Mission School.

In the Volleyball Senior Boys category, the 1st Prize was clinched by Honili Memorial Hr Sec School, while the 2nd and 3rd positions were bagged by Pranab Vidyapith Hr Sec School and MGM Hr Sec School, respectively.

In the Junior Boys category of the same event, Lorna’s Hr Sec School won the 1st prize, while MGM Hr Sec School and Harvest Mission School won the 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively.
The team from Pranab Vidyapith Hr Sec School won the 1st prize in Volleyball Senior Girls category, while the 2nd and 3rd prizes were bagged by St. Stephen’s Hr. Sec. School and Don Bosco Hr Sec School, respectively. In the Junior Girls category of Volleyball, the 1st prize was clinched by Lorna’s Hr Sec School, while MGM Hr. Sec School and Harvest Mission School won the 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively.

In the Basketball Senior Boys category, the team from Don Bosco Hr Sec School emerged as the winners, with St. Mary’s Hr Sec School Padumpukhri and Livingstone Foundation International securing the 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively. In the Senior Girls category of the same event, Don Bosco Hr Sec School claimed the 1st prize, while Livingstone Foundation International and St Mary’s Hr Sec School Padumpukhri secured the 2nd and 3rd places.

Moving on to the Basketball Junior Boys category, Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School secured the 1st Prize, with St. Mary’s Hr Sec School Padumpukhri and MGM Hr. Sec. School coming in the 2nd and 3rd places. In the Junior Girls category of the same event, Don Bosco Hr Sec School secured the 1st place, while St. Mary’s Hr. Sec. School Padumpukhri won the 2nd Prize.
In the Senior Boys 4×100 Relay Race, Livingstone Foundation International claimed 1st position, followed by Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School in 2nd place, and Lorna’s Hr Sec School in 3rd place. In the Senior Girls category of the same event, St. Stephen’s Hr. Sec. School secured the 1st position, followed by Don Bosco Hr Sec School in 2nd place, and Livingstone Foundation International in 3rd place.

In the Junior Boys Relay Race, Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School secured the 1st position, while St. Thomas Hr. Sec. School clinched the 2nd position. In the Junior Girls Relay Race, Don Bosco Hr Sec School claimed the 1st position, while Livingstone Foundation International and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sewak secured the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.

In the Tug-of-War Boys category, Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School took the spotlight by winning the 1st prize, with MGM Hr. Sec. School Padumpukhri securing the 2nd Prize, and Livingstone Foundation International coming in 3rd place. In the Girls team category, St. Mary’s Hr Sec School, Latika, bagged the 1st Prize, while St. Mary’s Hr Sec School Padumpukhri and Livingstone Foundation International secured the 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively.

Sunepjungla Longkumer of Livingstone Foundation International was adjudged the Best Girl Athlete of the sports meet, while the Best Boy Athlete Award was clinched by Tonoto R Zhimomi from Livingstone Foundation International.

The closing ceremony began with the gathering of all the participating schools, after which a word of encouragement was shared by the Treasurer of ANPSA, Dimapur, Neena Dutta. This was followed shortly by the Prize Distribution. The vote of thanks was proposed by Reji Abraham, General Secretary, ANPSA, Dimapur. Other highlights included the Flag Down and submission of the ANPSA Flag to Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema, President, ANPSA Dimapur, by the Convenor of the Sports Meet, Dr R Francis. This was followed by the declaration of the ANPSA Sports Tournament Meet closed by the President.
