Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has expressed immense pride and joy over Hokato Hotozhe Sema’s historic achievement at the Paralympic Games. Sema, who secured the bronze medal in the Shot Put event, has become the first Olympic medalist from Nagaland, a momentous milestone for the state.

In recognition of his accomplishment, the Nagaland government will present Sema with a cash reward of Rs 1.5 crore. “Being the 1st Olympic Medalist from Nagaland, I’m happy to announce that the Nagaland Govt will extend a cash reward of Rs 1.5Cr,” Rio said.

Announcing this via X, CM Rio also revealed plans to recommend Sema for the prestigious Arjuna Award to the Government of India, highlighting his outstanding contributions to Indian sports.

Additionally, Rio assured that the state government will advocate for Sema’s promotion within the Indian Army and Ministry of Defense, citing not only his sports achievements in the Olympics and Asian Games but also his dedicated and gallant service to the nation.

“Other measures in the promotion of sports, in his name, will also be taken up by the State Government,” he added.

“Congratulations once again, Mr. Hokato Hotozhe Sema. You have made every Naga proud. May you continue to bring laurels to our people,” CM Rio said.
