Dimapur thrash Peren by 9 wickets in tournament opener
Dimapur began their campaign in the 5th Late G Rio Men’s U19 Tournament 2025 with a dominant 9-wicket win over Peren at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium on April 7.
Put in to bat, Peren crumbled under Dimapur’s relentless bowling, posting just 33 runs in 14.5 overs. Anurag Gupta top-scored with 9, as none of the batters reached double digits. Deepak Thakur starred with the ball, delivering a match-winning spell of 4/16 in 7 overs, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Dimapur chased down the modest target with ease, reaching 34/1 in 8.1 overs. Despite losing one early wicket, Arnab guided the side home with a composed unbeaten 14 off 21 balls. Peren’s only success came through Monesor Basumatary, who claimed the lone wicket.
Dimapur’s commanding all-round performance highlights their strength as serious contenders in the tournament.
Niuland beats Tseminyu by 7 wickets
Niuland kicked off their campaign in the 5th Late G Rio Men’s U19 Tournament 2025 with a commanding 7-wicket win over Tseminyu at the Sovima Cricket Ground, Dimapur, on April 7.
Batting first, Tseminyu managed 113 runs in 30.2 overs. While Rohit Uddin (43*) and Sonyelo Kent (30) showed resistance, the rest of the lineup faltered against a fiery spell from Sujit Kumar.
Sujit was sensational, claiming 7 wickets for just 11 runs in 6 overs, dismantling Tseminyu’s middle and lower order. Jeetender added two wickets to the tally.
In response, Niuland chased down the target in 19.3 overs, finishing at 114/3. Jeetender led the batting with a fluent 37 off 33 balls. Despite losing three wickets, Niuland’s chase remained calm and calculated.
Sujit Kumar was named Player of the Match for his game-changing spell, setting the tone for Niuland’s strong start in the tournament.
