Mokokchung, January 20 (MTNews): In view of the upcoming General Elections to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly and to ensure peaceful atmosphere in Mokokchung District, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh IAS has in an order issued on Friday informed all the arms license holders under Mokokchung District to deposit the arms license along with the arms at their nearest Police Station between 9: 00 AM -3:00 PM latest by 27th January, 2023. “Failure to do as ordered will invite necessary action against the offender in accordance with provision of law,” the order read.

 

All the administrative officers have been directed to oversee that arms license holders of every type of weapon are deposited in the Police Station.

 

It was also informed that the issue of arms license and renewal will be suspended till the completion of the election process. It was further mentioned that, under section 144 of the CRPC 1973, carrying of licensed arms is banned till the completion of election process except by those persons who are entitled.
