The 4th meeting of the Task Force for the Development of Tourism in the North East was held in New Delhi today, a PIB report said. Present at the meeting were officials from all the North Eastern states: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.

Other stakeholders included NITI Aayog, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, the Ministry of Textiles, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, and private partners.

The task force discussed strategies and action plans for the comprehensive and sustainable development of tourism in the North East region, engaging with stakeholders, including those in the private sector.

Earlier, in line with decisions made during the Consultative Committee meeting for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) in September 2022, the formation of a Task Force for the development of tourism in the North Eastern Region was proposed.

Accordingly, a Task Force was constituted on 20th October 2023 under the Ministry of DoNER, comprising representatives from the concerned ministries, state governments, and other stakeholders.
