The Eco Club of GMS Pongentola, Mokokchung undertook a field trip to Mopungchuket, Impur, and Yimchalu as part of their first-hand experience program on the 23rd of April 2022.

 

The team first visited Mopungchuket village where they explored Süngkotenem, a community run park and a popular rural tourist spot with important historical and cultural connotations. They then visited the nearby Mangkolong tea garden, which is considered as the oldest tea estate in Nagaland.The group then proceeded to Impur, the headquarters of Ao churches (ABAM).The team visited the ABAM museum as well as the Pilgrim’s Park at Impur.

 

The team then left for Yimchalu village under Kobulong Tehsil in Mokokchung. Though a small village, most of the residents of Yimchalu are progressive farmers.The team visited a coffee farm and got to experience first-hand the different processes involved in coffee cultivation.

 

The team was led by Moachila along with teachers of the school.
