The Department of Art & Culture has announced a series of exciting events for the Hornbill Festival 2024, scheduled to take place from December 1 to 10. This year’s theme, “Cultural Connect,” will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Nagaland through a range of activities and performances.

Daily Cultural Performances (A Cultural Extravaganza) will be held at the main arena, where 18 cultural troupes from within the state will showcase their lively folk dances, songs, indigenous games, ritual demonstrations, and folk dramas. The performers will be dressed in colorful traditional attire, offering a vibrant display of Nagaland’s diverse culture.

In addition, the Artists’ Corner/Art Fair will take place at the World War II Museum premises in Kisama. The fair will feature various art activities, including art shows, artist talks and presentations, art pavilion exhibitions, art markets, artisan booths, art demonstrations, interactive workshops, art installations, art battles, and a cultural art show.

The Archives Branch of the Department will organize a joint exhibition with the National Archives of India, New Delhi, titled “Naga-Land & People in Archival Mirror.” The exhibition will showcase departmental publications, research documentation, historical monographs, dictionaries of local communities, Naga customary practices, archaeological publications, and more. The exhibition will be open at the World War II Complex, offering valuable insights into Naga history and culture.

Visitors can also explore the World War II Museum, Kisama, which will be open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The museum features outstanding relics and artifacts, providing an in-depth look at Nagaland’s historical significance during World War II.

The State Museum in Kohima will also be open to the public on all working days from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, offering another opportunity to explore the state’s rich cultural heritage.

Additionally, the Department will organize the Artisans’ Corner at the World War II Museum Complex, where artisans from all 18 tribes of Nagaland will demonstrate their skills in various indigenous arts and crafts.
