A two-day National Seminar on “GST Reforms – Realising the Vision of Viksit Bharat 2047” has begun today and will continue till April 15 at Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire, Nagaland, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi.

The inaugural session was held at the college auditorium in the presence of academicians, officials, public leaders, NGO representatives, local entrepreneurs and students. The programme began with the national song, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and an invocation.
Dr Phyobenthung, Principal of the college, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the significance of GST reforms in building a developed India. Dr Purna Chandra Mishra, Vice Principal and Convener, set the context by outlining the objectives and importance of GST 2.0.
The inaugural address was delivered by Dheeraj Rastogi, Principal Commissioner, Customs, New Delhi. Prof N.M.P. Verma spoke on the current status of GST in India, while Bijayananda Panda of Wipro delivered the keynote address on GST and economic growth.
During the public dialogue session, officers from the Department of Taxes shared practical insights on GST implementation and challenges. The session saw active participation from NGOs, civil society, government departments, business communities and students.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Mamata Panda, Head of the Department of Economics and Co-Convener, who thanked all dignitaries and participants.
The seminar aims to encourage meaningful discussions and explore pathways to strengthen GST reforms in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
