The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN/GPRN) has condemned the killing of two civilians near Yaolen Kuki Village on April 18 and called for an independent investigation into the incident.
In a statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity, the group identified the victims as Chinaoshang Shokwungnao of Tashar Village and Yaruingam Vashum of Kharasom CC Village. It alleged that the killings were carried out by Kuki cadres under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) arrangement.
The NSCN/GPRN described the incident as a serious escalation and expressed concern over what it termed as increasing tensions in the region. It further alleged collusion between Indian security forces and Kuki armed groups under the SoO framework, claiming that such developments could destabilise the region.
The group also criticised what it described as policies that undermine the Naga political movement, while asserting that the situation could lead to further deterioration if not addressed.
Condemning the loss of lives, the NSCN/GPRN called for an “immediate, independent, and transparent investigation” into the incident.
