Mokokchung, 18 November (MTNews): The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Mokokchung under the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland, organized a One-Day Awareness Programme on Ward Level Child Welfare and Protection Committee today. The event, held at the Penli Ward Community Hall in Mokokchung, aimed to raise awareness about the functions of the committee.
Sendonglemba, the Legal and Probation Officer at DCPU, Mokokchung, delivered a keynote address on child rights and child protection during the program. Asola Imsong, Program Officer for Non-Institutional Care, provided insightful illustrations on the different units of the District Child Protection Units, elucidating their working structures and functions. The primary objective of the program was to enhance awareness of the Ward Level Child Welfare and Protection Committee’s functions, drawing participation from representatives of various wards in Mokokchung.
In attendance were not only ward representatives but also key entities such as the District Child Protection Unit, Child Helpline, Juvenile Justice Board, and Child Welfare Committee.
The timing of this awareness program is especially significant, coinciding with the celebration of Child Rights Week, and its culmination is set for November 20th.
