MGM College, in collaboration with Instudia, organised a one-day seminar on “Artificial Intelligence in the Education Sector: AI Literacy for the Next Generation” at the college auditorium on Friday, aiming to equip students and educators with a deeper understanding of artificial intelligence and its responsible use in education.

The programme began with an invocation by Mhonlumo T. Atsopoe, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics. Chairing the event, Lopilo Yanthan, Head of the Department of Commerce, highlighted the growing significance of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of education and encouraged participants to embrace emerging technologies while upholding academic integrity and critical thinking.
In his welcome address, Jemsungba Walling, IQAC Coordinator and seminar convenor, said artificial intelligence has emerged as a transformative force across education, healthcare, business, governance and everyday life. Referring to the National Education Policy 2020, he said, “AI literacy has become an essential competency for the next generation,” and urged educational institutions to prepare learners to use AI responsibly, creatively and ethically.
The seminar featured sessions by Instudia Director Danil Changkiri and Technical Advisor Vishal Bardewa, who introduced participants to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, its educational applications and ethical considerations.
The speakers demonstrated how AI can be used to summarise concepts, prepare revision notes, generate flashcards and enhance research. They stressed that AI should serve as “a learning companion rather than a substitute for human intelligence and critical thinking” and advised students to verify AI-generated information with teachers and authentic sources.
