Youth wing questions resignation document, blames lack of consultation over interim committee

The National Peoples Youth Front (NPYF), the youth wing of the National People’s Party (NPP) in Nagaland, has rejected the portrayal of recent developments as a complete “mass resignation” or collapse of the party’s state organisation, asserting that the youth wing remains intact and functional.

In a statement signed by its president, Yabang Imchen, and general secretary (organisation), Neil Verma, the NPYF questioned the authenticity of a resignation document being circulated, noting that one of the state parent-body office-bearers whose signature reportedly appears on it has been out of station for nearly three months.

The statement questioned whether the office-bearer was aware of the document and had personally authorised or signed it. It called for independent verification of the signature’s authenticity, including the possibility of digital reproduction or AI-generated signatures, before the document was treated as an official resignation.

Attributing the present situation to insufficient consultation with state office-bearers, particularly over the formation of the interim committee, the NPYF said inadequate communication and a slow response from the NPP national leadership at its headquarters in Shillong had aggravated confusion and mistrust within the state organisation.

The youth wing said the priority should be to address workers’ grievances and rebuild trust between the state and national leadership, rather than create the impression that the organisation had been completely dismantled.

“The NPP Nagaland organisation cannot be defined by one document or one narrative,” the statement said, adding that it should be defined by the workers who continued to support and work for the party.
