Razeba Youth Society 22nd Annual Games and Sports meet underway

Kohima, December 8 (MTNews): The Razeba Youth Society (RYS) 22nd Annual Games and Sports Meet was on Thursday inaugurated by Vevoyi WD Vadeo, President, Chakhesang Youth Organization Kohima (CYOK) at Razeba town in Phek district.

Vevoyi WD Vadeo with dignitaries and officials of Razeba Youth Society and other leaders on December 8.

Vadeo in his address maintained that the society is undergoing a transitional period of social responsibility from elders to the younger generation and he stated that the youth have to engage in a formal socio-political and development process so as to formulate policies in securing a future.

“We cannot attain and create a sustainable society, unless we invest in youth; Investing in the youth will ensure better prospects for their own lives and for our area’s development. On the other hand, if we fail to make these investments now, we will further entrench poverty and ignorance for generations to come,” said the CYOK President.

He made an observation that Razeba range people are doing well on human resource and economic development, particularly on self-sustenance/self-employment and self-sufficiency, and yet he stated that “comparatively Razeba range is lagging behind others even within our constituency (17th Chizami AC) on infrastructural development aspect, particularly the road.” However, he told the people not to blame but to stand up as one to deliver to the people what is needed.

He expressed concern that if assembly constituency delimitation exercise was to be done in Nagaland, the 17 Chizami A/C should remain as it is because it will adversely affect not only the constituency but the entire Chakhesang community with fragmentation and will cost the integrity and unity of the Chakhesang community and he said, “Unity is our weapon and strength to stand together.”

Reiterating his commitment to serve the people by contesting in the forthcoming Assembly Election, he also sought the support and prayer while assuring to stand with the people through thick and thin for the welfare and wellbeing of the people.

Meanwhile, Vadeo pointed out that there are numerous athletes that have changed their lives and became famous and rich simply by engaging in the activities that they once considered to be their hobbies.

Further, he said there is a difference between playing physically and playing with one’s mind and heart and he advised the youth to participate in the sports meet with passion, play within oneself, to play like a champion and leverage their skills to reach national and international levels.

Earlier, presidential address was delivered by Rokovi Zholia, president RYS; special song was presented by Rhangoane Domeh and friends; Muzhuh Krocha, Catechist of St Ignatius Church Razeba said the prayer and the program was chaired by Edel Krocha.

The sports meet will culminate on December 10 with teams competing in various athletics and games.
