Mokokchung, 11 September (MTNews): Government Middle School Alempang, Mokokchung today conducted a seminar on substance abuse under the Nagaland Education Project The Light House (NECTAR) with Dr Redina Ao, Medical Officer UPHC, Yimyu as the resource person.

The resource person spoke on the ill effects of the use of tobacco products, alcohol, drugs, and other related intoxicants. She further added that substance abuse usually starts from peer pressure, family problems, personal problems, etc. which leads to depression and then takes refuge in taking illegal substances.

 

She also encouraged the students to avoid bad companies so as to keep themselves away from such bad habits. She further talked about the ill effects of substance abuse which leads to different problems like students dropping out from school becoming a problem for the family in particular and society in general.

 

Earlier in the program, the welcome address was delivered by I Tiamongla, Head Teacher while Yashila G/T chaired the program.
