The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) has expressed strong objection to the transfer of Nepuni Kanai, a Graduate Teacher (Social Studies), from Government High School (GHS) Seyochung Village to GHS Singrep. The objection follows an order issued by the Nagaland Education Mission Society, Samagra Shiksha (vide No. NLD/SS/TCHR-2/2020-21 dated April 17, 2025).
In a letter addressed to the Principal Director, the SVSU stated, “We regret to state that GHS Seyochung Village has been facing an acute shortage of teachers for many years.” The union claimed that the school continues to suffer from inadequate teaching staff despite repeated appeals to the concerned authorities.
“This recent transfer has further diminished the strength of the teaching faculty, affecting the quality of education and jeopardizing the academic future of the students,” the letter read. The SVSU described the decision as “a serious blow to the school and the community that has been striving to ensure better educational facilities in the region.”
Calling for urgent intervention, the SVSU urged the department to reconsider the transfer or attachment of Nepuni Kanai and “take necessary steps to ensure that GHS Seyochung Village is equipped with sufficient teaching staff at the earliest.”
