Tseminyu, February 24 (MTNews): The inaugural program of Tseminyu District Headquarter was held on 24th February at the Rengma Sports Association Ground, Tseminyu with Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio as the special guest, and Advisor for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary & Women Resources Development, R. Khing, as the Host.
Rio said although Rengma is a small tribe, their contribution is enormous. He mentioned that the first Naga Flag was woven by a Rengma lady and was first hoisted in Rengma territory. He urged the Rengmas and the young generation to carry forward their rich legacies. “Today, I am happy and share my happiness for the 13th district of Nagaland and pray that God bless Tseminyu to be a role model for other districts,” Rio said.
President of Rengma Hoho, Pollen Tep, in his welcome address, stated that the Rengmas joyfully welcomed each and every one to the 13th district and added that it was a testament of the solidarity extended towards an enduring aspiration that was finally fulfilled by the Government of the day. He added that the people of Rengma community heartily welcome and accept the magnanimity of granting the district to the Rengmas.
Tseminyu is the 13th district of Nagaland out of 16 districts. Dr Zasekuolie Chüsi, DC of Tseminyu district, informed that there are 39 villages and three unrecognized villages in the district with a population of 56,108.
The literacy rate in the district is 81.71% with a sex ratio of 1022, as per 2011 census. The district at present has two administrative headquarters and one notified township with two RD blocks.
