Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program launched

Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP) for Ongpangkong North and Kobulong Blocks was launched by Minister of Rural Development Metsubo Jamir at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School Auditorium in Mokokchung on Saturday.

 

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana (DAY) – Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission is implementing the SVEP for Ongpangkong North and Kobulong Blocks as part of Phase-II.

 

In his address, Metsubo Jamir, Nagaland Minister for Rural Development stated that the program is executed for blocks near urban hubs to prioritize simple access and the commencement of operations in accordance with market needs, and that the program focuses on SHGs and entrepreneurs to boost rural economic growth. In this regard, Jamir advised the participating blocks to prioritize one activity according to the demand required by the market.

 

“Understand the market dynamics and make decisions that are both sustainable and lucrative for the operations in which you have invested,” he said.

 

He also stated that the program has a specific emphasis on women because the program’s main goal is to make them self-employed alongside their counterparts in order to accelerate socioeconomic progress.

 

The SVEP’s goal is to help rural poor people start businesses by creating a sustainable model for village entrepreneurship using integrated ICT techniques and resources for training and capacity development, enterprise consulting services, and providing loans from banks, SHGs, and the federation.

 

Imtimenla, NSRLM’s Joint Secretary and Mission Director stated that it would also assist rural entrepreneurs in obtaining funding for their businesses from the NRLM SHGs and federation, the Community Enterprise Fund (CEF), and banks. During the execution of the SVEP in the Ongpangkong North and Kobulong Blocks, it is intended to train, fund, and nurture 864 firms, she added.

 

Currently, Kobulong Block has 127 SHGs, 11 Village Level Organizations, and 1 Block Level Federation, whereas Ongpangkong North has 252 SHGs, 18 Village Level Organizations, and 1 Block Level Federation.

 

Earlier, DC Mokokchung Shashank Pratap Singh, Takachiba Chairman Sungratsu Village Council, Nungshilepden Chairman, Village Council Ungma, representatives from BLF Ongpangkong North Block and Kobulong Block delivered short speeches.
