After three days of intense competition and exhilarating matches, the Salangtem Youth Union (SYU) successfully concluded the first-ever Open Futsal Tournament with Youngster FC emerging as the triumphant champions. The tournament, held under the theme “Focus to Endure,” showcased the remarkable futsal talents of 31 teams from Mokokchung and neighboring districts, consisting of both seasoned players and promising young talents.

Youngster FC’s journey to the top was truly remarkable. They displayed exceptional determination, skill, and strategic gameplay, captivating fans and competitors alike. Match after match, they showcased their agility and precision, ultimately securing a well-deserved place in the tournament’s highly anticipated finale.

 

In the championship match, Youngster FC faced off against the formidable Trebuchet FC, delivering an exciting showdown on the district’s first futsal turf. Both teams exhibited their technical abilities and competitive spirit, creating thrilling moments throughout the match. However, it was Youngster FC who emerged as the victors, leaving an indelible mark on the tournament with their remarkable performance.

 

The championship match concluded with a final score of 5-1, reflecting Youngster FC’s dominance on the field and their ability to convert opportunities into goals. Their exceptional teamwork, strategic maneuvers, and exemplary sportsmanship were key factors in their resounding success.

 

Amidst a thunderous applause from the audience, Youngster FC was presented with the championship trophy, acknowledging their outstanding performance. Additionally, they were awarded a generous cash prize of Rs 60,000. Trebuchet FC, the runners-up, were also acknowledged for their exceptional display of skills and received a cash reward of Rs 40,000. Chargers FC secured the third place and was honored with a cash prize of Rs 10,000.

 

The SYU, in collaboration with the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA), expressed their gratitude to all the participating teams, officials, volunteers, and sponsors for their invaluable contributions to the resounding success of the tournament. Their collective efforts ensured a memorable event that set a high standard for future sporting endeavors in the region.

 

In addition to the team awards, individual prizes were also presented to outstanding performers. Abu Chishi of Trebuchet FC received the honor of the highest goal scorer, with an impressive tally of 11 goals. Horlan of Youngster FC was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the tournament, while Alapou of the Havana Team was awarded the best striker. Limawapang of M.I United secured the best defender honors, and Sentilong of Trebuchet FC was celebrated as the most promising player in the tournament. These exceptional individuals were each presented with a cash prize of Rs 2,000 and received well-deserved citations for their achievements.

 

Tekameren, PS to Nagaland minister Metsubo Jamir, who was the special guest for the championship finals, handed over the trophy and the cash prizes to the champions.

 

The successful culmination of the first Open Futsal Tournament with Youngster FC emerging as champions serves as a testament to the region’s thriving futsal talent and the commitment of the SYU and MDFA in nurturing and promoting youth sports. The event not only celebrated the sport but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition among the participants, setting the stage for future sporting excellence.
