The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has introduced a dedicated monthly collection schedule for dry and recyclable waste from shops and business establishments operating under its jurisdiction.
According to a notification issued on August 19, the collection will be carried out on the last Monday of every month at 5 pm.
The initiative aims to improve municipal sanitation and promote environmental sustainability through the proper collection of recyclable waste.
Items accepted under the service include paper and cardboard, plastic, glass, e-waste, mica, thermocol, metal and styrofoam.
The MMC clarified that wet waste, food waste, hazardous waste and medical waste will not be collected under the service.
Shop owners and proprietors of business establishments have been advised to follow the collection schedule and keep eligible recyclable waste separately for collection.
