The 3rd NECDC Senior Men’s Interstate Friendship Tournament 2025 began today, hosted by the Nagaland Cricket Association under the aegis of the North East Cricket Development Council (NECDC).

The tournament will be held from 9 to 15 May 2025 at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium and Sovima Cricket Ground.

Six North Eastern states are participating in the tournament, divided into two groups of three teams each. Group A comprises Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram, while Group B includes Nagaland, Sikkim, and Meghalaya. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals. Nagaland are the defending champions.

Manipur defeats Arunachal Pradesh by 100 runs
In the opening day of the tournament played at Sovima Cricket Ground on Friday, Manipur registered a commanding 100-run victory over Arunachal Pradesh.

Batting first after Arunachal Pradesh opted to field, Manipur posted a formidable total of 354 all out in 47.3 overs. The innings was powered by a scintillating 106 off 68 balls from Jotin Singh Pheiroijam, who was later named Player of the Match. He received solid support from Pukhrambam Prafullomani Singh, who added 62 off 50 balls. For Arunachal Pradesh, Nabam Dol (3/54) and Suhel Akhtar Ansari (2/50) were the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, Arunachal Pradesh managed 254/8 in their allotted 50 overs. Techi Doria stood tall with a fighting knock of 102 from 123 balls, but lacked sufficient support from the other end. Manipur’s Raj Kumar Rex Singh delivered an impactful spell, claiming 3 wickets for 60 runs in his 10 overs.
