District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) today joined the Constitution Day by organizing various programmes across Nagaland.


Mokokchung DLSA celebrated Constitution Day at the District Court, honoring the foundational document that upholds democracy and justice in our nation. The event featured a keynote address by Secretary Julian Sitlhou, who emphasized the Constitution’s critical role in safeguarding fundamental rights and ensuring access to justice for all citizens. Chairman Victo Sema led the reading of the Preamble, reaffirming the enduring values and principles that guide the nation. The program was attended by members of the LADC team, panel lawyers, PI staff, the prosecutor, practicing advocates, and Bar Association members.

In Zunheboto, Constitution Day was celebrated at Government High School, South Point East. Retainer lawyer Easter H Yepthomi briefed the attendees about the Constitution’s framework, followed by a mass reading of the Preamble.

Phek DLSA observed the day at the District Court Conference Hall. The program was chaired by Sekhotso Rokha, a panel lawyer, who led the reading of the Preamble, pledging recommitment to its ideals. Vethothi Vero, Retainer Lawyer, spoke on the significance of Constitution Day as a cornerstone of India’s democratic journey. The program saw participation from Smti Tucuno Vamuzo, NJS (Chairperson, Phek DLSA), Zhevi Swu (APP), PI staff, court staff, PLVs, and members of the Phek District Bar Association.

In Peren, the District Legal Services Authority organized a program at Government Higher Secondary School, Jalukie Town, where W.V. Patton spoke about the importance of Constitution Day. Panel lawyers Italang Ramlia and Kewithinwang highlighted the salient features of the Constitution and Fundamental Duties under it.

Wokha DLSA commemorated Constitution Day with a pledge of the Preamble led by District & Sessions Judge/Chairperson Nino Iralu. This was followed by mass social work. At Grace School Wokha, panel lawyers Jacob Kikon and Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) created awareness about the Constitution’s significance and fundamental duties. The event also featured a welcome address by Rose Tsanglao, Supervisor of Grace School.

In Kohima, the DLSA observed the day at the District Court Complex. Secretary Wokono Yhoshii, NJS, chaired the program and highlighted the Constitution’s Preamble. Participants recited the pledge of the Preamble, led by Smti Duvelu Vero, NJS, Chairperson Kohima DLSA. The program concluded with an interactive session with PLs and PLVs.

Longleng DLSA marked the day at Victory Hostel, with Panel Lawyer P. Monyei Phom highlighting the Preamble and leading the pledge. Panglang Y. Phom enlightened students on Fundamental Duties and Basic Child Rights, while PLs and PLVs demonstrated “Good Touch & Bad Touch.”

Dimapur DLSA observed the day at the Council Hall, Sunrise Colony. The program began with the reading of the Preamble. Panel Lawyer Thiuswangwilu spoke on the significance of the Constitution, fundamental duties, and the role of Legal Services Authorities. She also discussed the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, the POCSO Act, and Lok Adalat. The event was attended by youths and women from the colony.

Finally, Mon DLSA celebrated Constitution Day at the District Court Mon. Chief Judicial Magistrate B. Peter Resu led the event, which raised awareness about the Constitution’s significance in Nagaland. The program also reflected on Dr BR Ambedkar’s contributions as the architect of the Indian Constitution. Discussions on the justice system and constitutional rights further enriched the event.
