Tiameren, who competed in two categories – Men Physique and Bodybuilding – won first runners-up in the Bodybuilding competition (weight 70 Kg category), a rare news for the town of Mokokchung. The competition was held in conjunction with the Hornbill Festival 2022 on December 9.

“I am grateful to everyone who prayed for me and contributed financially to my journey. I am here today because of your encouragement and prayers. I truly thank God, and I want to praise him. Everything happened because of him,” Meren told Mokokchung Times.

In explaining what this victory means to him, he stated that it motivates him to do even better in the future.

Speaking about being the first and lone participant from Mokokchung, he expressed his hope that this would have an impact on the people of Mokokchung.

“I’ve noticed that Mokokchung people are usually a little shy when it comes to participating in such competitions. There are many people who go to the gym, but many do not show up. So, I hope this serves as an inspiration to the younger generation and may encourage people to pay more attention to health and fitness,” he said.

“We all train at Lean Wolf Gym in Mokokchung, which is owned by Alemchiba,” he said when asked what advice he would give to a beginner. “If anyone is interested, we are here to assist and guide you by providing diet and training tips, as well as the routine. We will make suggestions. We are all there to help you.”

Tia, who began training for the competition in August of 2022 although he had been going to gym since 2018, stated that during his preparation he would work out in the gym from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. “But now that the competition is over, I shall work out in the gym only for 1 to 2 hours,” he said.

When asked about his training routine and diet, he stated that getting up early in the morning is essential. He also mentioned that the ‘regular meal’ is not the best solution and suggested investing a little more money on food.

“We need protein supplements, multivitamins, digestive enzymes; health knowledge is very important and timing is critical,” he says, adding that frequent eating is unhealthy.

“We usually have to eat 6-7 meals a day, but I make sure to eat every meal after three hours each,” he added.

When asked if he had a coach for the competition, he stated that he is self-taught; however, Alemchiba, the trainer of Lean Wolf Gym, has supported him throughout his journey like a coach would do.

Ropfu won the Bodybuilding competition in his category (U-70 kg).
