Champions of the 33rd Mokokchung District Cricket Association (MDCA) Inter-Club T20 Cricket Tournament, United Brothers CC, with MDCA officials on February 3 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.

Defending champions Titans CC, who had won the trophy for the past three successive years, faced off against United Brothers, returning to the competition after a hiatus. The two teams topped the league stage to secure their spots in the highly anticipated final.

The final match, graced by the presence of Vitolu EAC, Mokokchung, unfolded as a thrilling contest that kept spectators on the edge of their seats until the very last delivery.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, United Brothers struggled to put up a formidable total, closing their innings at 92 runs. Key contributions came from Talikaba Pongen (27) and Nirpen Rai (17). Titans CC, in their chase, seemed poised to claim a fourth consecutive title but faltered in the face of disciplined bowling and sharp fielding from United Brothers, falling short by a mere three runs. United Brothers took crucial wickets at regular intervals to defend their modest total successfully.

The climax of the match was nothing short of spectacular. With Titans CC needing four runs off the final ball and down to their last wicket, Nihal Rai’s (26 runs) heroic attempt to clear the boundary was brilliantly intercepted by a stunning catch at the ropes, sealing United Brothers’ victory and ending Titans CC’s reign.
