Justice Budi Habung of the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, officially inaugurated the Legal Services Stall of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) for the 25th Edition of the Hornbill International Festival at the Heritage Village, Kisama.
After cutting the ribbon, Justice Habung expressed his hope that the stall would serve as a valuable resource for individuals in need of legal assistance during the festival. He emphasized that the 10-day duration of the event provides ample time to raise awareness and offer legal services. He also urged panel lawyers to volunteer, helping distribute legal literature alongside providing services at the stall.
Justice Habung suggested expanding the stall’s services to include practical legal support, such as facilitating court marriages and other essential legal procedures, which would benefit festival attendees.
NSLSA Member Secretary Neiko Akami outlined the services available at the stall, which include filing affidavits, providing legal advice, distributing legal literature, and offering consultations. Panel lawyers from the State and District Legal Services Authorities will be available to assist visitors throughout the festival.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Judicial Magistrate N Longshithung Ezung, NJS, and Phuleto Yeptho, NJS. The event also featured a street play on domestic violence, performed by students from Kohima Law College, further raising awareness.
The Legal Services Stall will be operational for the entire 10-day festival, offering crucial legal services to all festival-goers.
