Mokokchung, 17 June (MTNews): Following the directives from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, intensive activities under the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) were carried out throughout Mokokchung District from 5 to 17 June. This initiative aligns with the national goal of zero childhood deaths caused by diarrhoea in all states and union territories of India.

The Ministry aims to achieve 90% coverage of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and Zinc supplementation among the target population by 2025, as outlined in the India Action Plan for Pneumonia and Diarrhoea (IAPPD).

To address the high mortality rate associated with diarrhoea, the Department of Health & Family Welfare in Mokokchung implemented various IDCF activities to prevent and control dehydration-related deaths caused by diarrhoea. These activities included raising awareness about diarrhoea management, hygiene, and sanitation.

Additionally, efforts were made to strengthen service provisions for managing diarrhoea cases, along with the distribution of ORS-Zinc by Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in households with children under the age of five.
